This course provides an overview of the California cannabis industry, including the various governing bodies, types of licensure, maintaining licensure, laws, regulations, and ethical standards of cannabis compliance, business management, and more. The course is designed to assist students in developing the tools, skills, interests, values, and motivation needed to run a successful cannabis business as general and store managers of any type of licensed cannabis business in California. 

Instructions are designed to familiarize students with the core cannabis business functions and Standard Operational Procedures.  After taking this course, students will have a very good understanding of how all cannabis businesses operate and how to maintain compliance.

Course Delivery: 

This course will be delivered through a combination of lectures, discussions, case studies, and guest speakers. Students will also be required to complete assignments and a final project in which they develop a comprehensive business plan for a cannabis business. The course will be conducted online through a learning management system, Learndesk.com and in person. 

Assessment in this course will be based on participation in discussions, completion of assignments, and the final project. Grading will be based on the following: 

  • Participation and engagement in discussions: 20% 
  • Completion of assignments: 30% 
  • Final test: 50%

Course Duration: 

  • 11 weeks
  • 115 hours

This course can be taken online and in person. Class meets twice a week for a total of 5 hours.

The total charge for a period of attendance is $3,750. The estimated schedule of total charges for the entire educational program is $6,000.

Non-refundable registration fee of $250 is due at registration.
