This course is designed to teach students the fundamentals of Microsoft Office with all of its applications. Students will learn general computer basics, as well as how to effectively use the internet and Google Drive. Students will also learn how to research various websites for services and how to use them to gain an advantage in the real world. Upon completion of this course, students will be computer literate and proficient in email practices. They will also be workforce-ready with Microsoft Office knowledge and skills in using applications for administrative tasks necessary to succeed in a variety of entry-level positions such as an Office Clerk General, Data Entry Keyes, and File Clerks. 

Program Objectives: The objective of this program is to prepare students for the workforce with the skills gained in this program. Students will have the necessary computer skills to be proficient in email practices and Microsoft Office applications. They will be prepared to enter the workforce as an office secretary and/or office administrative assistant in professional businesses. 

Requirements for Completion: To complete the program, a student must attend a minimum of 80% of the scheduled hours of instruction and achieve an average of 60% overall in the course study, including assignments, projects, and a final exam.

Week 1-2: Introduction to Computers and Microsoft Windows 

  • Introduction to basic computer hardware and software 
  • Introduction to Microsoft Windows Operating System 
  • Introduction to Microsoft Office Suite 

Week 3-4: Microsoft Word 

  • Introduction to Microsoft Word 
  • Creating and formatting documents 
  • Inserting tables and graphics 
  • Using templates

Week 5-6: Microsoft Excel 

  • Introduction to Microsoft Excel 
  • Creating spreadsheets and charts 
  • Working with formulas and functions 
  • Formatting cells and worksheets 

Week 7-8: Microsoft PowerPoint 

  • Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint 
  • Creating presentations 
  • Inserting media and animations 
  • Using templates 

Week 9-10: Microsoft Access 

  • Introduction to Microsoft Access 
  • Creating and managing databases 
  • Building tables, forms, and reports 
  • Running queries 

Week 11-12: Email Practices 

  • Introduction to email etiquette 
  • Using email clients 
  • Managing and organizing emails 
  • Creating and sending professional emails 

Week 13-14: Google Drive 

  • Introduction to Google Drive 
  • Creating and sharing documents, spreadsheets, and presentations ? Collaborating with others using Google Drive 
  • Using Google Forms and Google Sites 

Week 15-16: Researching Various Websites for Services 

  • Introduction to researching different websites 
  • Searching for services and products online 
  • How to evaluate the credibility of websites 
  • Tips and tricks for online research

Week 17: Final exam

This course can be taken online and in person.  To access this course, you must enroll in our Vocational School.

The total charge for a period of attendance is $3,750. The estimated schedule of total charges for the entire educational program is $6,000.

Non-refundable registration fee of $250 is due at registration.
