The course covers the essential roles and responsibilities of budtending, including customer service, product knowledge, and compliance regulations. Upon completion, students will 

have the necessary knowledge and skills to begin a career as a cannabis budtender in any retail cannabis company in California.

Course Syllabus: 

Week 1: Module 1 Introduction to the Cannabis Industry 

  • History of cannabis 
  • Legal and regulatory framework in California 
  • Compliance with regulations

Week 2-5: Module 2: Budtender’s Job 

  • The importance of excellent customer service 
  • Budtender’s job duties
  • Customer service 
  • Customer intake, verification
  • Working with METRC software
  • Log entry
  • Dispensary floor plan access areas
  • Techniques for building rapport with customers 
  • Addressing customer questions and concerns

Week 9-10: Module 3: Cannabis products education

  • The different types of cannabis products (flower, edibles, concentrates, etc.) 
  • The effects of different cannabis products on the body 
  • Customer education of products and usage

Week 11-12 Module 4: Inventory & Storage Procedures

  • Cannabis storage room procedures
  • Packaging & Labeling requirements 
  • How to ensure compliance in a retail cannabis setting 
  • Handling and storing cannabis products 
  • Role-playing exercises to develop customer service skills 

Week 12 Course Evaluation: 

  • Participation in classroom discussions and activities 
  • Completion of quizzes and exams 
  • Final exam

The total charge for a period of attendance is $2,000. The estimated schedule of total charges for the entire educational program is $4,000.

Non-refundable registration fee of $250 is due at registration.
